AFGHANISTAN
In Afghanistan, once the fighting has come to an end, there will be an enormous
amount to do.
One can not imagine the hardships, which had to be endured during
the twenty years of war. The three main objects start off with providing food,
health treatment and providing water. It is just amazing how well people still
look, and I wonder what they had been living on. Looking back at famins in
Africa people looked emaciated, specially people from Biafra and Ehopia.
Also I
find remarkable that the Afghanies wearing clean clothes. How can they manage
with so little water.
I would like to know from where they get their water. No
rain has fallen in two years.
The soil is crumbely dry. Is there any water
underground so that wells can be bored? Or will a drill hit solid rock? If on
the other hand water-wells could be created, irrigation could be introduced. It
will be a hard undertaking getting this Nation under one administrational hat. A
Federation would be the answer, but decisions must be left to the leaders of
Afghanistan.
They are a very proud people and will not tolerate outside
interference. The vaccination of children is one of the priorities Very many
medical- and multible other helpers are on hand in the imidiate areas, and I
hope that isolated villages will be able to get help too, now the bad winter
weather is approaching. Warm clothing is also urgently needed, as so many
possessions were lost.
To reach those isolated villages, mountains have to be
climbed and ascended with the only transport possible, the mules. Seeing on TV
how people have build their houses out of clay is as if the houses have been
lifted out of the ground, melting into the scenery. For thousands of years life
has been like this in Afghanistan, and they should continue the life they are
used to and not industrialise their country.
To help them, is to help to
stabelise the country, provide food and water resources until they are self
efficiant again.
This has already been put forward I would like some feedback on
this.
