Thoughts

The events of 11 September 2001 are increasing global policing. The end of this year seems to bring unity to very many countries around the world, thinking alike to trash out terrorism and crime. There is so much crime now through drug abuse, but also racism is ripe. Its a pity that many people who come to make a new country their home, carrying a chip on their shoulder. One does not need to lose one’s identity or religion. It only needs a little adaption from the new comers .

Equaly new comers should be made welcome by individuals. How about a scheme "get to know your neighbours." The strife between Israel and Palestine has been going on since 1945. The Arabs where fighting tooth and nail to keep the Jews out. Eventually Israel has been allocated to the Jews, who came from European Concentration Camps, and had gone through harrowing times. After settling in Israel, skirmishes had occured. Jewish settlers were attacked by Palestinians, who thought that they had right of way. On the other hand Jews employed Palestinians. Later in time, when Jewish settlers were quite often attacked, the Gaza strip has been occupied by force. Jewish financiers supported Israel. It would have been a good gesture to start helping Palestine too, giving practical and educational help via different countries leaders.. Of course in the meantime the situation has worsened.

A positive approach should be taken by the super powers giving the Palestinians hope for the future. The first successful attempt to rebuilt a country was Germany after WWII. In Japan, McCarthy had helped to transform the country to help it to prosperity. It is amazing what one man can achieve. But it is a pity that he was not appreciated in his own country. Perhaps it is time now that he should be praised. In Afghanistan help is now given on an enormous scale. The same approach should be made in Palestine. It is time that the reason for Palestinians protesting manner is recognised.
